Fillings  /  Stainless Steel Crowns  /  Extractions

Fillings

  • The numbness should last about 2-3 hours.  Your child shouldn't chew while the area is numb, but can drink or eat soft foods (milkshakes, ice cream, soup, etc.)

  • If your child should experience any soreness, you may give Tylenol or children's Ibuprophen.

  • Fillings may be sensitive for several days after placement. If this sensitivity persists, please call our office.

Stainless Steel Crowns

  • The numbness should last about 2-3 hours.  Your child shouldn't chew, but can drink.

  • For soreness over the next day or two, you may give your child Tylenol.  If soreness persists, please call our office.

  • Your child should keep the area along the gum-line clean.  He or she may need help with brushing for 2-3 days.

  • Your child should avoid sticky, chewy candy; this is very important with stainless steel crowns. (Example - Jolly Ranchers, Now and Later's, Starbursts).
